Looking for a Public Speaker?

Is your club or organization looking for a speaker for a program? Contact Vicky with your request for a perennial gardening, yoga, or Reiki related presentation or ask her for a list of presentations that she has available to present to your group. Vicky will come to your location with all the necessary equipment to give an inspiring presentation or if you prefer, bring your group to Pippi's. Walk and talk garden tours are available at the nursery, as well as inside accommodations for a more formal presentation.

2012 Events

January 12, 2012: Fremont Wellness Night, 6-8 pm. Vicky will be providing mini yoga classes and reiki sessions as part of the Fremont Wellness Night. Introductory Zumba and karate classes will also be offered as well as information on a variety of other wellness programs. Door prizes. Free. Fremont Elementary School is located on Richmond Road (off Fremont Road) in East Syracuse.

February 9, 2011:  Native Plants for the Garden; Vicky will discuss a variety of garden worthy plants that are also native to the northeast. Learn about the importance of including native plants in the landscape and tips for selecting the appropriate plants for your specific conditions. Central New York State Nursery & Landscape Association, Trade Show & Education Day, The Lodge at Welch-Allyn, Skaneateles.

March 4, 2011: Yoga in the Garden, 2:00 pm -2:45 pm.Do you want to do something nice for yourself and the environment? Join Vicky for a presentation of Yoga in the Garden. Learn some simple movements you can do before, during or after a stint in the garden to minimize or avoid the soreness that so often accompanies gardeners during the growing season. Also, find out how gardening with native plants ties into yogic philosophy. Yoga is a wonderful tool for optimizing your gardening enjoyment. Considering adding a perennial garden to your landscape or wondering how to minimize maintenance of your existing gardens? Join Vicky for tips and hints on designing a low maintenance perennial garden. Learn how to design a garden that is within your budget, meets yours desires, and is within your ability to care for. The more consideration you give to these topics before you start, the greater your chances of success. Free. Onondaga Free Library, 4840 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse.

July 14, 2011: Yoga in the Garden, 7:00 pm -8:30 pm. Gardeners in Thyme host their monthly meeting where Vicky will introduce some simple movements that can be done before, during or after a stint in the garden to minimize or avoid the soreness that so often accompanies gardeners during the growing season. Vicky will also introduce the concept of Ahimsa (nonviolence) and how this basic idea can be used to care for ourselves and the other living creatures we share the garden with. Gardeners in Thyme meeting at Beaver Lake Nature Center, Baldwinsville.

September 8, 2011: Stretch, Grow, & Save at Pippi's Fall Nursery Event: 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. At 4:30 pm participate in a free half hour gentle yoga class taught by Vicky Hilleges. Then, join her in the garden for a look at some perennials that are not only beautiful, but are also excellent late season food sources for butterflies and birds. After the talk, celebrate the fall planting season by taking advantage of Pippi's Fall Plant Sale. Light refreshments will be offered along with nursery wide discounts and specials.
