Pippi's Plants

Selecting the appropriate plant for your needs and conditions can be a daunting task. Pippi's Plant List is intended to assist you with your selection. Each plant description includes the botanical name, the common name, the plant hardiness zone, the plant height, when it typically blooms, and a general description. We've also included symbols, defined in the key, located on the first page of the plant list,  to represent a variety of information from the plants light requirements to whether on not the plant attracts butterflies or is deer resistant.

Look for Perennial Plant Association (PPA) Plant of the Year selections inside our plant listing! These plants have been selected by members of the PPA for meeting the following criteria:
  • Suitable for a wide range of climate conditions
  • Low maintenance
  • Pest and disease resistant
  • Easily propagated
  • Multiple seasons of ornamental interest

All of Pippi's perennials are grown outside (not in a greenhouse) primarily in 4 1/2" square pots and/or trade gallons with a few plants such as grasses and peonies available in two gallon containers.

Whether you are looking for the tried-and-true or the latest variety, Pippi's has the plants to meet your needs. Brighten a shady spot, attract hummingbirds and butterflies, or add color, depth, and texture to your foundation plantings. It is all possible with Pippi's perennials.

You can purchase plants at our new location at 201 Highbridge Street in the Village of Fayetteville starting in June or call for an appointment to purchase plants at the nursery located at 12 Sherry Lane in Kirkville.(location/directions) The advantage of coming to the nursery is that you get to view our extensive display gardens featuring many of the plants grown in the nursery. Visiting the gardens is a quick way to obtain valuable information regarding the plants preferred growing conditions, mature size, and potential companion plants. The more you know about the plants, the better chance you have of selecting the appropriate perennials for your needs, making you gardening experience more successful and rewarding.

Growing Matters, Pippi's Quarterly Newsletter

Part of Vicky's reason for creating Pippi's Perennials and Blooming Yoga was to share her love of perennial gardening and yoga with others and to promote the many benefits of these activities. Growing Matters, Pippi's quarterly newsletter is one way she tries to accomplish that goal. Each newsletter includes tidbits of information to help make your gardening experience more rewarding and snippets to begin or enhance your yoga practice. It is also a great place to find information on special events, classes and seminars she will be giving in the community or hosting at the nursery.
